A while ago I needed the RMS Measure plug-in and it didn’t work despite I have used it before.
The version was 3.0.5 for Windows 10. I updated to version 3.1.0, but it didn’t help
(I removed the old version before the installation to be sure).
The plug-in doesn’t work or even show up in Analyze Menu or any other menu.
I can enable it seemingly, but after clicking OK (which closes the selection window),
nothing has been changed.
When I check again “Manage plug-ins”, it shows the plug-in as disabled.
There’s no error message and the Audacity log doesn’t show anything that is related to this.
Any help is appreciated.
Select the work.
Analyze > Contrast > Measure Selection (either one).
If you need more than one, you can do it repeatedly. If you do two, Foreground and Background, it will tell you the difference. This is one of the few Audacity native tools that works in RMS.
That should get you going while we figure out why your plugin failed.
There’s also the ACX-Check plugin which will tell you RMS, Peak, and Background Noise.

What’s your plugin?
What’s the actual job? If you’re preparing work for audiobooks, we publish an Audiobook Mastering suite of tools that guarantees Peak and RMS. If you recorded your voice in a quiet, echo-free room, you may be done.

Thanks for helping out. I don’t have any serious work in progress.
Both Analyze/Contrast function and ACX-Check plugin are very useful.
