Since I cannot deselect voice recording even when deselected (unchecked) the only way I can think of is to return to default settings (easy for most programs right) but cannot find it. How do I return to default settings. This is my last attempt to use audacity. With all the glitchy things listed in this website, why do people even use it?
You can reset most parts of Audacity with:
Tools menu > Reset Configuration
To do a total reset you need to manually delete Audacity’s configuration files, but I’m not sure that the location specified in the documentation is still correct. (On Linux, the location of the config files has moved). The three files to remove are:
- audacity.cfg
- pluginregistry.cfg
- pluginsettings.cfg
On Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\audacity
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity
