Remove distortion after changing pitch?

Hello everyone,

I need to change the pitch of a voice recording for a game project, but “change pitch” creates audible distortions. Is there a tool for removing these distortions? Or another way to change the pitch without unwanted effects?
Thanks,

Leo

Changing the pitch by more than a few semitones will always sound a bit weird. The difference in pitch in real life voices is mostly in the vowel sounds, but “pitch shifting” changes the pitch of “all” sounds, which gives the amusing “chipmunk” sound when shifted up and “mud monster” sound when shifted down. Nevertheless, the “Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift” effect generally gives a better quality pith shift effect. See: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sliding_time_scale_pitch_shift.html

I’ve just tried “Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift”, it’s much better indeed ! Thanks a lot for your help and the explanation
