Recursive Batch File Processing & Output

Hello! Ever since Audacity 2.3.0, a crucial feature for me is missing.

It used to be that you could select a folder for batch audio processing, select “preserve folder hierarchy”, and Audacity would make a copy of the folder and apply your macro (called a “chain” back then) to each file while preserving the folder’s structure, as well as the structure of any sub-folders. Fully recursive.

As of Audacity 2.3.0, you can’t even customize the output directory at all. The only option is output to a single, flat folder.

This is a major feature to have lost for me, and I haven’t been able to find anything similar in any other tool. I wanted to post here to ask if there’s any way to get this feature back, and if not, to implore the Audacity team to bring it back. Thank you!!

Just checking back in to reiterate my desire and need for this feature. Thanks for reading!

Also, something to note is that older versions of Audacity (including 2.3.0 prior), do not run on modern Macs. This is a crucial detail I wanted to mention as it means I have no access to this feature whatsoever.

It is a shame they removed this.
