I’m on Windows 10, Audacity 2.4.2. I don’t have speakers, only a USB headset (Steelseries Arctis 7) and I generally just want to record computer audio via stereo mix.
All of my input and output is set to 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100hz (except for my microphone which only has 1 channel). Stereo Mix is enabled, "Listen to this device’’ is checked off on it, “Playback through this device” is set to Default Playback Device. Exclusive Mode is checked on for it. I set my mic - Headset Microphone (Arctis 7 Chat) - to playback thru Headphones (Arctis 7 Game). ‘‘Listen to this device’’ is off. Exclusive Mode is checked on for it. Headphones (Arctis 7 Game) - my output - also has Exclusive Mode checked on.
When recording in Audacity, I set it to Windows WASAPI, record via Headphones (Arctis 7 Game) (loopback), 2 channel, 44100, 16 bit, and this works fine. I can clearly see that it’s picking up digital audio and recording it. However upon playback thru Headphones (Arctis 7 Game) I get the familiar "ERROR OPENING SOUND DEVICE, TRY CHANGING THE AUDIO HOST, PLAYBACK DEVICE AND THE PROJECT SAMPLE RATE’'. The only other output I can set on Audacity is Headset Earphone (Arctis 7 Chat) and this does’t work either. I’m pretty stumped at this point. I had managed to get it to work earlier this year but I totally forgot what my settings were like… help please?
