I would like to record a DJ set with the following setup:
Pioneer XDJ-RX2 with a Pioneer RMX 1000. Usually I record my sets with an usb plugged into the RX2 using the record function. However, this way it doesn’t seem to record the effects added by the RMX 1000.
I’ve did some research and tried recording with Audacity. However, it doesn’t work. Audacity doesnt seem to recognize the RMX 1000 and I’m not sure if I’m connecting my RMX 1000 to Audacity correctly. Could anyone here provide me with a detailed instruction on how to record a DJ set with the RX2 and the RMX 1000 using Audacity? Including what cables I need, where to put them etc. etc.
That looks like a very complicated bit of kit. Unless another Audacity user just happens to have the same equipment (not very likely), you would probably be better seeking support from Pioneer’s support channel.
I could be wrong, but from what I can find neither unit works as a “recording device” with a computer.
If you have a desktop/tower computer you can connect to line-in (analog) on your soundcard. If you have a laptop with only mic-in and headphone-out you can use an external USB audio interface with line-inputs. (Depending on how “demanding” your DJ/Audio software is, there is a possibility of “glitches” in your audio and/or your recording if you are recording with Audacity and using other audio software at the same time.)
