I want to record all 8 channel inputs, but only two are being recorded and I assume these two are all channels but joined.
It MIGHT work with a true 7.1 soundcard, but I’m not sure. I’m talking about a soundcard with connections for 8 separate speakers, not “virtual surround”.
I believe your headset has a regular stereo headphone plug, and obviously only 2 earcups so the surround is being down-mixed to 2-channel stereo.
And in general, Audacity is “not great” at multitrack recording.
