Recording streaming audio with Audacity

I used to record streaming audio on my old Win 7…can’t do it on W10…
Win 10 Pro…v1809…
Audacity 2.3.2
MB Asus Z97-AR…

In order to use Audacity to record streaming audio I need the Stereo Mix open in my sound card drivers…

I am using the onboard audio in the Asus MB…I cannot get an update to add the Stereo Mix to the audio driver…

So…I am looking for an alternate solution…
I am open to purchasing a PCI-e audio card that has the Stereo Mix ability…
OR…Some way to add Stereo Mix to my current MB…

Thoughts and ideas appreciated…

Thanks Koz…
I went thru your link…and I have been doing pretty much what was indicated…
When I was on W7…things worked…different MB…different Audio driver…

With this different MB and AMD High Definition…the option for the Stereo Mix option in the Win sound just ain’t there…

I’ll keep digging…maybe someone else will have another idea…

many thanks…

the option for the Stereo Mix option in the Win sound just ain’t there…

Use WASAPI Loopback.

I tried that…and just about every combination of possible recording options I can do
both in windows sound settings and in Audacity…

No joy…:frowning:

I did find that my audio driver will NOT accept a Stereo Mix combination…I’ve tried other pieces of “loopback” software
that might emulate a Stereo Mix…nothing works…

Right now I’m searching for a PCI-e audio card that 'might" allow the streaming recording…

Thanks for your input…

I GOT IT…I GOT IT…
WASAPI worked with Speakers High Definition Loopback…
I don’t recall seeing that device option before…
So maybe I did something…whatever it was…that enabled it…

MANY THANKS FOR THE HELP…!!!
