Recording seems to change speed

I’ve had some very odd results when recording. Occasionally, after recording, the cursor is ahead of the recording. When I play the recording back, it is faster and higher than intended. I’ve also had the opposite occur. The recording is ahead of the cursor, and the playback is slower than intended.

I’ve check the playback speed, and it is set to 1.0, so it is not likely that.

Any idea what may be causing this?

If the sample-rate of the recording device & Audacity do not match there can be a change in tempo & speed.

Try changing the Audacity project-rate from the default 44100Hz to 48000Hz before you start recording.
