recording notes longer than 1.8 seconds

Hello Music types,

Can I run Audacity 2.2.2 on windows 10, it runs great on Vista. I can record long notes with 2.2.2. Audacity 3.2.1 and 2.3.3 do not allow me to record notes longer than about 1.8 seconds.

Windows is not letting you record long notes: noise-reduction “audio enhancement”.

That second process is running automatic noise removal. It naturally assumes that any sustained sound longer than a set duration (1.8 seconds) is noise. It “learns” and tries to get rid of it. That may work well for speech and spoken word presentations, but it’s deadly on music.

Dig in the Windows Control Panels and make sure they’re not trying to run automatic noise removal or any other “helper” programs.

You guys got it right !!! I had to do a right click on the volume control to settings then enhancements then disable all sound effects.
