Recording in WAV from BBC Radio Live

Not sure what’s happened to settings but I’ve often recorded music from live BBC Radio programmes in WAV in Audacity 2.0.3 but for some reason on both my laptop (Windows 7) and Desktop PC (Windows 8) the Input device and input channels are remaining completely blank and no wave profile is coming through when I press the red record button. This Error Message appears: 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate.
Could someone please tell me how I go about finding these. I’ve never had this problem before and this is my first post on the forum. Thanks in anticipation!

Here are two pieces. One on recording streaming audio and the other on the error you got.

If it used to work, did you do something new like join Skype or try to record a new microphone?

Thank you for prompt replies!!! Will look through both. The only change I’ve done is I reinstalled Windows on one of the computers but also installed the Drivers CD so don’t think I’m missing that.

Thanks a million Koz!!! I’ve spent almost a week trying to fix this and your answer unearthed the input device that was disabled … StereoMix.
I enabled it and that’s it fixed! Many thanks from a dull Scotland and a grateful 74 year old!

Glad to help
