recording in stereo through usb audio interface [SOLVED]

I’m having a problem, but I could just be an idiot.

I don’t have a stereo line-in/mic port on my laptop, so I purchased a Behringer USB u-control uca202 audio interface.

I hooked up my cassette deck, and tried to do a stereo recording, but only the Left side is recording in Audacity, and to make matters even weirder, the Left channel is repeated on the Right channel. The end result is a mono sound coming through on both channels (I’d post a screenshot to show what it looks like, but I’m not sure how).

I checked the audio interface device–it has its own monitoring headphone jack–and the stereo signal is definitely coming in through the interface input and going out through the interface headphone jack fine. So it can’t be that, unless I have the wrong sort of audio interface (which doesn’t make sense, because it has the aforementioned headphone jack, and also has output jacks for the Left and Right stereo channels).

I checked the preferences in Audacity, and I have the stereo recording enabled, and the USB audio CODEC selected. I’m not sure what else there is for me to try.

Check the “Advanced” properties in the Windows Sound control panel, for the Behringer USB in the “Recording” tab. Ensure that it is set to “Stereo”.

Thanks! …Works like a charm!
