Recording from sound card

Hello, I am running windows 10 64 bit running audacity 2.3.3. I’m recording through the WASAPI setting, and it was working fine at first recording only what I wanted to and that would be sound through a sound program that I had downloaded. so I would be able to record all the tracks without the sound from another track being recorded with it. now all of a sudden when I go to record a new track its picking up the other tracks and recording those all over again. in order to get the one sound I am trying to record I have to put the new track on solo and go off of memory of where I want the new track to come in at. I have everything unchecked that I don’t need, I do have overdub turned on. oh also I don’t have mic plugged in but its picking it up like there is one plugged in, any help in this would be great, like I said working at first but now not doing what it was before and it’s driving me nuts

thanks

WASAPI loopback records all of the sounds coming out of the soundcard.

WASAPI also works “as usual” and only records the selected input if you select a microphone or other input as your Recording Device.

oh also I don’t have mic plugged in but its picking it up like there is one plugged in,

Are you using a laptop with a built-in mic? (You can disable the mic through the Windows Control Panel.)

It’s just regular WASAPI not loopback and no its a desktop. It was working fine allowing me to record new tracks without it recording the other tracks as well but now no matter I do I can’t get it to go back
