Recording from mono to Stereo

Hello.

I am using Audacity on my one year old MacBook Pro. When I open the program, only (Mono) Recording is the option. How can I change the dropdown to offer a stereo option?

What is the recording source? If it is a mono source (such as the Macbook internal microphone), the only option is to record in mono.

If you need a stereo recording (for example to cut and paste into another stereo track), you can 1) duplicate the track, then 2) use the track dropdown menu to convert the two mono tracks into one stereo track.
