Recording from iPod to PC

First Post, so here goes.

I am having trouble recording from my iPod to PC, if it is even doable. I had system crash, had to rebuild iTunes Library and lost some songs. They are on the iPod from a prior library but trying to sync with new library will delete all iPod songs and original library is gone as well. I am trying to record those songs from headphone jack on the iPod to either of the microphone and line in jacks on the PC with no luck. When I hit record on Audacity (V2.0.2) I get this error message: Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate.

I am using window 7. I’ve used Audacity in the past without issues and have used it convert all of my vinyl and reel-reel collection. This is first for a device like the iPod.

I believe these are the settings for this project. If this is inaccurate or not enough information please let me know.

Thanks,

You can only sync iPod to one computer or iTunes library at a time, but can you not copy the current contents of the iTunes library to an external or other hard drive? Then you should be able to delete the current iTunes library and sync.

Note that according to this:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/11624224#11624224

you can only sync iTunes store purchases but you can retrieve other files using other software.

Use the line-in. The microphone will be mono or poor stereo and may distort.

Thanks for the device information. Audacity cannot record if there are no enabled capture devices in Windows. See here for how to enable input devices in Windows:
