I’m using Audacity 375 on my new Windows 11 compuer and I can’t make it record.
Everytime I push the recording button I get an error message. Unfortunately I can’t make a screen dump since my current photo program doesn’t work on Windows 11 either.
But the error message for Audacity looks like this:
I’ve found out that it might be the computer which is the problem, not Audacity.
When I checked the system, I realized that the sound goes “out” but it won’t go “in”.
Not even Microsofts little recorder is usable.
The advice I get from the system is “add an input device”.
But from what?
And what shoul I add.
I’m not a professional sound engineer an I don’t want to meddle with thins I don’t know about and ruin the whole system, especiall not when I have been suffering from a terrible flu for three days with high fever wich makes me so tired and confused that I can hardly think.
And it’s annoying that this ASUS Expertcenter or what the name is has ben equipped with such a lousy sound system with no advice at all how to fix this.
As soon as I’m free of this flu, I’m gonna take a visit to the shop where I bought it and demand the money back if I haven’t fixed the problen before that.
However, I’m grateful for all help I can get when it comes to this problem.
Now, Windows 11 weird system for taking screen dumps has also changed and no information about it.
That made me think that a photo editing program I installed also didn’t work in Windows 11.
When i tried to take a screendump the usual way with the “print screen” button, nothing happened. I thought that the photo program was faulty or not compatible with Windows 11.
I was about to remove it and lay another problem on y heap of problems when I saw you post here. So I started to investigate and found that Windows 11 has a different way with this with screen dumps so now i have to push alt+print screen.
And I wonder why? It has worked fine for so many years, why change it.
Just before midnight, it came to me like a vision.
I decided to activate the “Stereo Mix” option.
After doing so, all of a sudden Windows sound recorder was working.
But not Audacity!
However, I discovered that it was possible to choose the WASAPI option which hadn’t been possible before and then Audacity worked as it should.
And I’m happy for that!
I guess that the severe flu which I’m suffering from since a couple of days made it difficult for me to think, otherwise it wouldn’t have take n three days to sort this out
Thanks to you who helped me solve thos problem. Your contributions were important!
