Recording desktop audio | Audacity Support — I did follow this tutorial and all works well. However, the sound recorded depends on the playback volume. If I turn the computer’s volume control down to silence, nothing is recorded.
Question: Is it possible to record with computer speakers silent? If so, how? Thanks!
This method records what’s coming out of your soundcard…
You can plug-in external speakers (which always have a volume control) and turn down the volume, plug-in headphones (and maybe put them in a drawer), or plug-in a headphone extension cable with nothing connected.
You may use a virtual mixer, for example, Voicemeeter Banana or other
If you decide to try VoiceMeeter Banana, there is an excellent tutorial here: https://www.pride48.com/training/
