Like the title says, I’m trying to record exactly what’s coming from the speakers but the result is getting compressed slightly compared to the original video. I’ve attached a recording of a piano transcription of Ode to Joy, the same part of that track in this video is at 3:00: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-ByzVTt8wc&t=181s
I hope you can hear what I mean. I’ve tried the different interface hosts MME, DirectSound and Wasapi. Appreciate it if anyone knows anything that may help
I don’t hear any great difference between the two, but you should know that recording what’s playing on the computer can have some surprising problems. Some techniques record everything from all sound pathways including computer speaker and microphone. You are running both the playback system and the recording system at the same time on purpose. That can be hard to control.
This can give you timing, echo, and analog sound errors in addition to the main clean performance. That can sound “close,” but not quite there. That effect can change with the computer.
You can try one of the better sound managers such as Voicemeeter.
