Audacity will not record when I have different input and output devices selected, but it will not record when I have the same device selected. Does anyone know if there is a way to change this? Screen shots attached.

I am recording a podcast. I can’t find anything in the frequently asked questions about my problem. It’s making it a lot harder to edit while I’m recording.
I just started using bluetooth earbuds and the problem is gone. I wish I had tried this months ago.
