Recording an itunes track without background noise

Hello, I am trying to record an audio track on my iTunes of a beat I made in fruity loops a while back. I can record the track, but when I play it back I hear a bunch of ambient noises like me coughing, me typing on the keyboard, and cars driving by out side my window. Is there a way to record this track internally, to where the recording consists of only what the computer would hear persay? I do Not use an external microphone via usb or anything else. Please help thank you

Curent (Device) settings under (Preferences) from the (Edit) tab are as shown, unchanged since I got the software.

Try Stereo Mix instead of the internal microphone. That will make an internal digital-to-analog-to-digital recording of whatever you are hearing out of your computer speakers/headphones.

But… What format is your Fruity Loops file, and WHY do you need to “record” it? Do you still have Fruity Loops? I’m sure it can make a WAV or MP3 file.

The “internal microphone” is the mic built into your laptop (for Skype, etc.) Besides picking-up ambient/acoustic sounds, it’s low-quality and you should avoid using it if you want high-quality music.

The current trac im trying to record without background noise is an iTunes file in mp3 format. Im recording the track so I can convert it to AVI(which I have already found out how to do) and place it in a project in windows live movie maker, I want to use the beat I made and combine it in a picture slideshow for a project for School. I know there’s a way to avoid the background noises, ive done it before on audacity but have forgotten how to do it. Just asking for help, that’s all

Looks like my dumbass spoke to soon…The stereo mix change up worked and solved my problem. Than you DVD doug.

Have you tried inserting the MP3 directly into Movie Maker? I don’t use Movie Maker, so I don’t know what audio formats it accepts. Most video editors can accept a variety of different audio & video formats as input, and convert to AVI or other desired audio/video format as output.

In any case, you shouldn’t need to “record”, since you already have a digital audio file. If MP3 won’t work in Movie Maker and you need to change the format, you can simply open the MP3 in Audacity, and export it to another format (just as you would do with the recorded version).

If you had an older copy protected iTunes AAC file that you couldn’t open in Audacity (or in your video editor), then you might need to record the analog sound.
