Record into computer from Pyle PT-659DU (cassette deck) with USB out

Hi All, I’ve been trying to record into my Windows 11 laptop with my Pyle with USB out, it record about 1 to 2 seconds of audio, then stops, I’ve reinstall Audicity, I don’t understand much, so please treat me as as beginner, I’m just trying to record tapes into MPS and create a page to share with people interested in underground house/techno music from the 90’s+, if I need an interface, please tech which one and how to use it, from Pyle to Interface to Computer, I have no experience in this world! Thanks in Advance - TDSR

Does it completely stop or does it fade-out and pretend to continue?

If it fades-out that might Windows “enhancements” which should be turned OFF.

It’s a good idea to turn-off “enhancements” anyway. They cause all kinds of weird problems.

I don’t know what would make it stop recording. You don’t need an interface as long as the Pyle’s USB is working. The USB is essentially an interface or soundcard (or half of one if can only be used record with the computer, but not to record from the computer to tape).

I just know there’s music and words, it seems to pick up word and isolate the music, it completely stops recoding and just moving through, but it’s blank, I can hear the music thorugh the monitor playing
, can I show or post what it’s doing, I don’t know much about this world, I thought it would be easier, I did turn off enhancements

Since I’m having an issue here there a not way, I’d like play a tape and it record like it sounds, into a file so it can shared as close to the original, there got be other options?

For example a tape to CD, CD to mp3, or just another player to audicity that read connects and reads without troubleshooting or even a link to a video

You first need to find out, where in your setup the problem is.

Is it in the tape deck? Connect it to a different computer to see whether the problem still exists. On that other computer, you may install either Audacity or a different audio capture program to try.

If it doesn’t work there, it is probably a problem with the tape deck.

Is it in the computer (software or hardware)? Try a different audio capture software on your computer.
If this doesn’t work, it is a problem of your computer (hardware or operating system).
If it works, it is a problem within Audacity (most probably some confused settings). Either use the “Reset Configuration” command from the “Tools” menu or delete the settings folder while Audacity is not running.

Did you check the privacy settings? Is Audacity allowed to “hear” something? I cannot tell you where exactly to find these in Windows, since I am not using Windows.

To see if the problem is with Audacity, try recording one of your tapes using Ocenaudio to see if that works.

Did you check the “enhancements”? Windows seems to be getting “better-and-better” at keeping spoken voice while filtering everything else out…

Yes off, any ideas on an alternative I can try or if an external interface might work

Did you try Ocenaudio?

I doubt that an interface will help, but the Behringer UCA202 (or UCS222) is popular and inexpensive. It will use the Microsoft-supplied drivers so only the hardware will be different.

Will do, thanks!

not yet, but anything moving towards success helps thanks, I’ll let everyone know it will take a bit to get back around to this!

Thanks, great tips, I’ll put that on my to do list after trying oceanaudio, I appreciate the help!

Pyle USB output recording is disabled. Check Audacity settings, make sure that Pyle is chosen as input. Check installation of drivers or update at Pyle site. Use alternative USB port to power-up.

That’s an idea, thanks, that would make sense too

Hi All, I finally figured this out, I turn off Windows Enhancements on all incoming devices thanks Doug, then I unplugged and plugged back in so I could figure which one was what in Microphones (didn’t realize it was considered a microphone - I’m said I’m just starting) from there, I used the tutorial to go to Audio Setup to make sure the right microphone was picking up, now that I knew what was what, thanks again for all the replies, everybody’s replies on has been on brain and everyone helped tremendously as there was a lot of data to kick around for some time, I was finally ready to get frustrated if need be again, so glad it worked today! Feel free to share this if another traveler like myself comes along this road! Blessings to You All! - Tha Dragon SourceRa - PLUR

New to this , thanks Mr B for the head’s up on the reply, I’m assuming this was the solution, not 100% sure, after this my recording level was horrible even at the lowest level it was coming in too strong, not sure if it’s a known thing with Pyle, but being familiar with analog to digital, so I switched to analog and used my Mbox Mini, recording out of Pyle into the Mini, then to the computer via a USB, and now the recording sounds okay, fyi, for anyone who travels this road, again, thanks for everyone’s input and responses, I would highlight them all if I could!
