Realtek line in sound activation by enabling Windows (10) microphone access

Dear Audacity users,

I want to thank you a billion times for the great help guide of Audacity!

My Realtek HD Audio Line in(s) did not play any sounds for many years. I did a lot of time extensive troubleshooting but never found a solution on the internet.

When I tried to record with Audacity I got the “Error -9999 Unanticipated Host Error” and a short look into the help guide brought me to the final solution after so many years:

I had to enable the Windows (10) microphone access to also activate the line in(s) of my Realtek onboard audio (mainboard: GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5)!!! This was absolutely not logical and completely counterintuitive to me, as I never used a microphone with that desktop.

I hope this topic will help many other desperate users around the world by showing up in their internet searches!

Thank you from my heart :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
