OK, first thing first… Let me get 2 things out of the way.

Ok, with that out of the way… I’m a child of the 80’s. I always thought the way that they made He-Man’s voice do that echo thing when he changed, (I Have the Power!!!) was way too cool. (This is where the geek alert comes in.) I was trying to recreat the effect on Audiocity, but quite honestly, I’m in way over my head. I don’t know what 95% of the terms mean. Can someone give me some clues as to what settings I should use to recreate that effect?
Assuming you already have recorded your voice, you can add Effect > Echo or Effect > GVerb to your show. That will give you the sudden ‘talking in a really big room’ effect. Mess with the sliders and adjustments to get the work to sound like you want. You have to keep applying the effect to see what you did. Do it on a tiny part of the show, drag-select a portion, don’t try out effects on the whole two hour presentation. You could be there for weeks.
You need to be in Audacity 1.3 for the best tools, not Audacity 1.2.
We can’t suddenly give you an octave lower, rumbley voice. The effect that does that also messes up your sibilants and makes it sound like somebody has a towel around your face.
The main effect is Reverb.
In this example I’ve overdubbed my own voice using the GVerb effect with room size set about half way up, reverb time at about 6 seconds, damping at about 0.6, and dry signal, early reflection and tail all set around -12 dB. You will need to tweak all the settings for the best results.
I also applied the Equalization effect to make it match the original sound track better.
