Question about editing in Audacity4

Hello all, I have been using Audacity for a while now, and really love the new look on Audacity 4, I have tried my workflow on here compared to 3 - and find i use ctrl+l an aweful lot on quiet spots, but the shortcut seems to not work in 4. AI suggests its unchanged, but I believe the alternative way is Generate->Silence - after selecting the audio I am looking to silence, this is fine, except its a bit more lengthy a workflow than simply highlight and ctrl+l

UNLESS, I am missing something I am open to suggestiong, but wonder if anyone else has noticed it, has a better workflow? or how do i bind the shortcut. (Found the binding in shortcuts, and thats select ctrl+l and then apply so that works for now) - Happy to hear if I have missed anything else though.

Click on the gear icon at the right edge of the upper toolbar - the Customize Toolbar panel will open. At the left of each item is an icon - eye open and eye closed. Eye open shows the item. Scroll down until you can see the “Silence” entry and click the eye-icon to show it. The toolbar updates immediately.

Unfortunately these is no menu item and no shortcut.

Thats cool - I found I could bind Ctrl+l also – so I am happy, now just need to wrk out how to achieve Auto-Duck and I would be super happy :smiley:

Cool. I didn’t know you could bind a shortcut to a non-menu command. Good to know
