Hi,
Given your background, I have a suggestion which I think would be much better than using Audacity. You will have fun doing it too, I think.
Download your chosen songs and put them in a folder first. Download and install Mixxx - a marvellous free DJing program. Set up Mixxx and choose your folder as the library source. Add the folder to the Auto DJ queue. I suggest changing the crossfade time from the default 10 secs to something like 2 or your preference. Enable Auto DJ and it will play through the playlist crossfading automatically. Once you have it working you can click the icon to record the set that is playing.
You will end up with a single WAV, FLAC or MP3 (you choose) with all your songs with crossfades. Simply play that and record it to your reel-to-reel. It sounds involved but it’s OK really. I’ve done it myself and I’m not a DJ. It is a blast.
If this appeals to you I will help you if I can. Just send me a private message. Alternatively, if that sounds like too much faff, you could share the music with me and I will assemble the finished article for you to record.
Best regards,
Mark B
