prolectrix usb turntable [SOLVED]

I have installed the driver for my prolectrix usb turntable onto windows 7 and i am following the instructions in the manual that came with it but i have hit a problem. When i get to the edit part it tells me to go into preferences and then into recording which i do and then it tells me to open the device menu and select the AK5371 option but AK5371 option does not exist what can i do ? .

Assuming Windows can see the turntable in the “Sound” or similar control panel, exit and restart Audacity.

Otherwise, please see Missing features - Audacity Support .

i am using windows 8.1 and have downloaded the 2.1.01 version of audacity
i did not have a disk with my turntabe and got it as a gift for christmas. i am having real trouble in getting my pc to recognise the turntable. it keeps thinking it is a speaker can anyone help me with where i can get the right driver for the rurntable. i have emailed prolextrix stating my problem and have heard nothing .
please could someone help me with the driber i need

Which is it?

Prolextrix?
Or prolectrix?

Anyhow, finding a driver looks like dangerous business. Encountered an attack on my browser.

It might just be possible that “speaker” is in the USB name. Have you tried recording? Even without vinyl, you can try recording. Usually, these things don’t need a driver.

Also, Audacity 2.1.01 doesn’t exist I think. Where did you see that number?

If you have a desktop computer with a regular soundcard and if the turntable has a line-out, tape-out, or headphone-out, you can make an analog connection to your computer and record that way.

(This won’t work with most laptop computers because most laptops only have mic-in and headphone-out.)

i have the same turntable but got it as a gift at christmas and have no disk which means no drivers. would it be possible for uou to send me the drivers for it as i am having real difficulty getting my pc to acknowledge it . i am using windows 8.1

Audacity does not make turntables.

It is known that the AK5371 chipset is problematic. It does not have its own drivers, it uses the Windows USB Audio Class drivers.

I suggest you follow all the steps in the green box “Detecting USB and Firewire devices” here:
Audacity Manual.

If you don’t succeed after that and even Windows does not recognise the device, you would be advised to take the turntable back where it came from.

If you haven’t done so yet, make sure you have Audacity 2.1.0 from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows then have a look at this page in our Audacity Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_with_usb_turntables.html.

Feel free to start a new topic if you have a new question to ask.
