I have been able to export individual files as mp3s, but when I export the whole project it exports as a document file.
Sounds like a file association issue. Need to associate the AUP4 project files with Audacity.

Yes I did. It was because I had a dot in the filename. I had added a date e.g whole project 18.10.26
When I removed the dots it worked fine. I hope that works for you.

What OS are you on? When I export a project with a dotted-date in the file name it works fine on Mac. e.g. “WholeProject_2026.10.18”.

Maybe it’s a combination of dots and spaces that’s the problem.
