i got a behringer xenyx qx1202 usb mixer. it was working fine, but couldn’t figure out how to get multiple inputs to record as multiple audacity channels., so i got a lexicon alpha usb interface. the computer recognized it, but i couldn’t record with a mic thru the interface on either my laptop or desktop. went back to the xenyx - now the computer won’t recognize it so i can’t designate it as the recording device. windows 7
The first thing to do is to look in the recording tab of the Windows Sound Control Panel and ensure that Windows is receiving a signal from the device. When you have established that Windows can see the device and is receiving a signal, then start Audacity and select the USB device in the recording setting of the device toolbar.

Like most USB mixers, only the stereo mix is sent to the USB port. It’s not a multi-channel interface.
I’ve never tried multitrack recording with Audacity, but there may be some issues. There is some information here.

Is it only the mic input that doesn’t work, or do none of the inputs work?
There’s a special driver for the Lexicon, but the Behringrer uses your Microsoft-supplied drivers.
