Problem using system shortcuts to create accent marks in labels

Hi,

In older versions of Audacity such as 2.1.0, it was possible to create accent marks within a label using shortcuts on a Mac. For example, after adding a label, to create an acute accent like á, one could hold down OPTION key and then press “e”, then type the letter to accent (‘a’). Or to create a grave accent like à, one could hold down OPTION key and then press “”, then type the letter to accent ('a'). In the current version of Audacity (2.3.2), this no longer works. Now pressing the OPTION key and either "e" or "" causes an error tone to play and the subsequent vowel press does not produce an accented letter. It IS possible to paste in an accented vowel into the label, however.

Is there a way to make the OPTION key shortcuts work within labels in the current version? This is very useful to me.

Thank you,

Mark

This is a known problem, which I think was caused by the updated version of wxWidgets which Audacity uses.

As a workaround, try enabling the setting:
“Preferences > Tracks Behaviors > Use dialog for the name of new label”
