I tried to install the latest version of Audacity (3.2.4) under Windows 10 (64-bit), but got the error below (see screen shot).
It would seem to be a permissions problem, but I can open File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\david\AppData\Local\Temp, and create a sub-directory manually, so why can’t the install procedure do the same?
I’ve been using Audacity for about 20 years now, and have updated it many times (I was trying to upgrade from v3.2.1, which was working fine), but never encountered this issue before. Any idea what the problem might be?
If you mean “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”, then yes, I gave permission (if I hadn’t, the installer would have simply exited without doing anything).
Yes, I actually was logged in as ‘user’. If I wasn’t logged in as ‘user’, why would the installer be writing to the ‘user’ directory (see screen print)? That doesn’t make any sense at all.
