Probably a dumb question about deleting split clips

Hi all,

I am trying to edit a podcast recording, and I need to remove bloopers or just parts where the host re-read the script. I have been using Ctrl + I to split the track before and after what I want to cut, but when I delete it, Audacity leaves an empty space. I would like to delete the split track and have the rest of the track automatically “snap back” instead of leaving an empty space. How can I accomplish this? I know I can manually drag the rest of the track back, but surely there has to be an easier way? I also know I can highlight the part I want to delete and then press “delete,” but it is just easier to pause and split rather than having to identify the area to highlight.

Please help. Thanks all!
