Preferences and Toolbar is grey after update. [SOLVED]

I am a novice user who has used Audacity for a few years. I recently installed 2.2.1.

The Generate(Record) button won’t not run. The toolbar indicates I have MME and the correct mic. I would investigate further but Preferences is greyed out.

Surprisingly, the help/FAQ has not heard of this issue. How do I enable recording?

My mic has an auto off feature which disables Audacity. A :blush: dmin please close this ticket. Thank you.
