Please make the Windows taskbar stop blinking after each macro-step, and file

FYI - I posted this in Github just now = Please make the Windows taskbar stop blinking after each macro-step, and file... · Issue #9456 · audacity/audacity · GitHub
Thought I’d mention it here too for someone searching here to reference.

EXAMPLE: Let’s say that I use the Macro Manager to run a macro with 6 steps, on 10 files.
I figure that it’s going to take some time, so I start it, and then switch to other applications to do other work.
But EVERY time it finishes just one STEP of each macro (not the whole macro itself), it flashes the Audacity icon in the Windows (10) taskbar.
My taskbar is normally hidden, and many rows high. so that pops up, blocking a chunk of my screen. EVERY, SINGLE, MACRO, STEP.

I don’t want it to flash at all.
How do I disable this taskbar flashing feature completely?

OR at MOST, it could flash when ALL the FILES are done (not just each step, and not just each file, but the entire batch) and it returns back to the Macro Manager, letting me know that I could actually run another batch. There’s no other reason to even pay attention to Audacity until it’s all done. Not like I can use it for anything while it’s processing anyway.)

Yes, I’m aware of related threads, but one is archived, and the other is not exactly on this particular point until the last comment.

Have you tried this?

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.

  2. Go to Accessibility → Visual effects.

  3. Under Dismiss notifications after this amount of time, choose a short duration (e.g., 1 second).

  4. Additionally, go to: Personalization → Taskbar → Taskbar behaviors. Uncheck Show flashing on taskbar apps.

I suspect that is not going to be good enough for you.

You can change HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ForegroundFlashCount to 0.

Thanks, but I can’t find your first recommendation on Win 10. Must be a Win 11 thing.

The Registry edit also didn’t work. Maybe I need to reboot though for it to take real effect… We’ll see when I do that next.

Update - Could never find your first recommendation in Win10.

Reg edit didn’t change anything, even after updates and reboot.

This is so annoying. Everyone puts up with this??

Any other suggestions?

Constantly annoying on Win10.
