Please Help! Cannot move the clips as usual since Update!

Hello everyone!
I’m new to the forum, although I’ve been using Audacity for over 13 years. I’ve always been very happy, but the new update is killing me! Yes, I also have a problem with the envelope tool. What’s much worse is that I can no longer move tracks and clips around like I’m used to. Please watch the video.

In the first movement you can see that when I grab a clip and want to move it, the audio in the top clip also moves (not good).

Then I found out that I can also move just the bottom clip by holding down the Shift key (movement 2) and I thought my problem was solved.

But unfortunately, when I separate the lower clip and want to move the back part of the clip, it doesn’t work, even with the Shift key pressed.

But it is important for my work that I can move the clips, seperate them and move them again.

Can someone help me? I’m desperate and need advice asap because I have a project to finish by September.

If the track is selected the clips are stuck together, unselect the track to free the clip …

Hi Trebor,

thanks for your quick answer. That did not work. I can see, that you maybe have an older version of Audacity? My request is explicitly for 3.6.1.

BUT I found out that here’s the option of “seperate and move to a new track”. That helps. Not exactly what I was searching for, but eventually I can finish my project by September. Have a look at this video for everybody who has the same issue.

And now, please, makers of Audacity, we love you all for giving us a free and real good DAW, but please stop destroying what was working fine. cheers!
