I am using EZcap USB cassette capture to transfer cd cassettes to the computer. I have windows 8. The transfer seems to work fine but the volume is extremely low when trying to playback. Evidently I have something set improperly when importing??
You are recording, not importing. Choose the correct recording device (EZCap) in Device Toolbar. Then try turning up the level of the recording slider in Mixer Toolbar:

Hi Gale and thanks for the response. Evidently I still don’t get it. When I click on device, recording my only choices are Microsoft Sound Mapper-input and Microphone (Realtek.) I don’t see anything listed as a device toolbar? Thanks again for your help.
The device toolbar should show-up automatically by default in the top part of the Audacity window. If you don’t see it, go to View → Toobars and make sure it’s “checked”.

Let’s get a number on the peak level. Run the Amplify effect and make note of the default amplification. (You can go-ahead and apply the amplification if you wish.)
…The Amplify effect scans your file and defaults to whatever gain is needed for normalized/maximized 0dB peaks. For example, if Amplify defaults to +6dB, that means your peaks are currently at -6dB.
Thanks to everybody for their ideas etc. Turned out the problem was the software only works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. I was trying to use it with Windows 8. Guess I should have read the instructions!! Luckily I have a computer with windows XP and it works fine on that computer. Again, thanks for the responses.
