Play at Speed Toolbar

Hello, after several research i can’t find the " Play at Speed Toolbar " on Audacity 4.

Does it still exist ?

Also there is issue with custom keybinds, there are not being saved and sometimes didn’t works.

Thank You.

That functionality hasn’t been implemented yet and may get added to a future version of audacity 4. In the meantime, I have added it to my web port of audacity 4: Soundscaper

Well soundscaper is at least better than the horror stories I’ve heard about 4 so far I’ve seen split to left and right mono on the menu there which allows you to phase correct a tape before making your stereo track back for tapes to correct dodgy azimuth and gives an option nobody wants the split to center mono too but it’s there because people are only using it to correct volumes from left and right tape heads and actually want to be able to click make stereo track and have it playing in stereo how it was only better because you were manually able to change the volumes of the left and right to phase correct the stereo.

I’ve heard in a topic you cant do that on main 4 at the moment so a win for your web version so far I’m not switching until audacity 3 does the forced update for 4 when it’s actually full featured ready for everyone to use so v3 will force it as a check for updates then.

Another thing is one touch speech noise removal we had in OpenVinu for v3 but adapted for v4 to use it’s get noise profile button so it works for music as well as speech with one touch no audio quality loss not having to do 666 over again getting lots of loss however my way around it was using the openvinu splitter to require less of a 666 and get less loss but even then it needed to be done lots of times the openvinu is only once and it keeps noise beyond human listening in so it doesn’t ruin the speech in it’s one touch for for that to happen in music would be amazing no more 666 times 10 a single band and having to do it 40 times even split up on the most hissy tape.

I think it’s a bonus to have the center mono option but nobodies going to use it because we are only really using the mode to phase correct stereo tapes and for that it’s only mono left and right to make them independent volumes for a phase correct and then we are all wanting to click make stereo track to bring it back to stereo audio.

Maybe it’s probably required for a mic with a single ring jack you plug in without a mixer actually to put it over both channels or a tape with such dodgy azimuth no data can be found on the other channel in a phase correct at all I guess there’s some use for center mono but not much we are more interested in left right mono to change the volumes to the same data lufs before clicking make stereo track again the correct way to digitize a tape as you are correcting the balance of dodgy heads so it’s a wide stereo field but balanced as well.

Then best option still is sticking with 3 for now no openvinu might ruin your recorded versions of radio shows with line jack hiss and no one touch method to get rid of the full audible part of the hiss no loss just a 666 which will give you lots of loss and take 10 samples to finish a removal or worse without a openvinu stem split.

On the good side of things I do like some of the looks of 4 I haven’t used it and won’t use it until I’ve got features and all formats working again including my ai hiss removal and my stem separation hopefully with the get noise sample button on the ai removal this version so it works with music as well as speech a dream feature but then I’m judging the look of it from the web ui which already has phase correction back probably different from the main version because I read earlier no such thing as split to mono left and right on the main build but people who muck about with tapes say we need it for the best quality which your own webui gives us a positive but it needs to be on the desktop to make use of it on a verison of 4.

Thanks, i didn’t know Soundscaper. I’ll stay on version 3 for the moment.
