Panning question

Hello.

I have search the FAQ and searched topics, but I can’t seem to find an answer to my question.

I don’t know if it is possible with Audacity, but I hope.

I’m currently recording a song, and I have this 3 second guitar fill, which I thought would be cool if it could start with a 100% left pan, and then slide and end on a 100% right pan. Is it possible, and how?

If it’s a one-off, the manual way is probably easiest.

1. Duplicate the track (select the track, then Ctrl+D)
2. Set the first track to “Left Channel” (see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_track_dropdown_menu.html)
3. Set the duplicate track to “Right Channel”.
4. Apply “Fade In” to one of the tracks and “Fade Out” to the other.

Ah that’s cleaver I thought I knew this stuff, but I guess you learn something new every day.
