Hi
When overdubbing a mono tack with another mono track the play back on the 2nd track is poor and crackles
before I updated both mac and audacity it was fine
i’m now using mac 10:13:6 and audacity 2.3 and I tried again using the original version 2.1.1 with the same bad result on both versions
I’ve checked my mike and solo focusrite usb input on my windows laptop windows 10 and audacity 2.1 and both tracks record perfectly
Not a techi by any means so simple worded help for the mac would be awesome
Paul

Hello Paul,
Sorry to hear about these issues.
We are sorry for not having seen this post until now.
I hope that this issue has been resolved by now, but if not here’s a few things to try -
-
Have you tried a higher ‘Buffer Length’ value in Audacity > Preferences > Devices ? Low ‘Buffer Length’ settings could have a greater load on the CPU causing glitches.
-
To confirm, can you see the second recording visually exhibiting any clicks/artifacts?
-
While making this second recording, turning on the ‘Direct Monitoring’ switch on the Scarlett solo and listening to this microphone signal in real time can you hear any audio glitches?
-
Could you open Finder > Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor and let us know how much CPU usage Audacity reads ?
Are you also able to try out a different recording software such as GarageBand to find out if you are getting this glitches in another software as well?
Let us know how it goes and we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks
AP
