OpenVINO Uninstalled Audacity

iMac M4, Sequoia 15.5, 24 GB
Audacity 3.7.4

I had Audacity installed and working (from Musehub) and then downloaded and installed OpenVINO. When I went to open Audacity it was no longer installed. I know that sounds crazy but I tried it a couple times. Install Audacity, all good, install OpenVINO, Audacity no longer installed, can’t be found on the Mac at all. Downloaded OpenVINO from Download Audacity AI Plugins the universal binary. Did not try Apple Silicon ARM64.

Haven’t found anyone else with this problem.

Thanks for any help!

I think that OpenVINO only works on Windows computers with Intel processors.

There are downloads on their page for Windows and Mac.

I had the same experience: downloaded and installed the MAC universal binary version same AudacityTeam page – and found that it had deleted my Audacity application. As you’ll see in another thread, I had previously tried the Apple Silicon ARM64 version. It doesn’t appear to have installed at all, but at least it’s caused no problems.

I agree with Wrecks0 that the plugin probably only runs on Windows, as this is OpenVino’s stated platform.

Bummer.

It definitely runs on Mac now, but it’s possible that we made a mistake with the (un)installer for the openvino thing. Lemme check with the team.

Woo, hoo! Thank you!

OK, this is definitely fixed in this version: Release v3.7.1-R4.2-beta-3 · audacity/mod-openvino-macos · GitHub

If you have a previous version of the plugin installed, uninstalling it will always remove the entirety of Audacity. I’m not entirely sure what the best way around that is – maybe simply uninstall both and then reinstall? Or maybe you can just install the new one on top of the old one. I don’t have a mac to test it out, I’m afraid.

I installed OpenVino and it did not uninstall Audacity. However, I chose to only install the Music Separation piece but the Music Generation piece was installed instead.

Also I’d like to know how to cleanly and completely install this plug-in.

thanks!

FYI, I installed this today and on June 19th. The earlier version is the one that uninstalled Audacity. I’ve got 55 dylib files that probably come from OpenVino.

I’d really like to get these off cleanly and perhaps start over when things seem more stable. What’s the best way to do that?

Thanks.

Hi @mgaert, to use Music Separation you just need to select some existing track first. It is showing up as greyed out in your screenshot, only because you don’t have anything selected. Music Generation of course, is the only one that doesn’t require any selections – which is why it shows as available here.

Thanks that worked.

It was good to try but I would like to remove it now. Is there a clean way to do that?
