When I installed Audacity 3.6.0, I had to reinstall OpenVino. When I installed Audacity 3.6.1, I had to reinstall OpenVino. Now, with the release of Audacity 3.6.2, they forgot to provide a version of openVino that works with Audacity version 3.6.2!
How long will things continue like this? Indefinitely? Why don’t you developers make an OpenVino plugin that works with all versions of Audacity 3.x.x?
OpenVINO is a module in the technical sense, which reaches deep into Audacity’s own functions to provide its functionality. For that reason, OpenVINO and other modules require a guarantee that Audacity has all the functions it expects, and currently that means compatibility breaks every patch.
In the future, we’d like to get an API going that’s more stable between releases, but until that happens, you’ll need to redownload the plugins for every version.
As for the 3.6.2 plugins being delayed, that’s because Intel are still finishing up the work on it. It’s not been forgotten.
They didn’t forget. They’re working on it. Some people found that the plug-ins don’t work with 3.6.1, but I got it to work. See: Unable to install OpenVINO Ai Plugin on Audacity 3.6.2 and 3.6.1 - #5 by sefufu
Interesting: when I reverted from 3.6.2 to 3.6.1, the legacy limiter that came with the former was still there.
