Only able to record audio through the microphone in windows

Hi all,

I’ve been using Audacity and whenever I connect a new device to record on my laptop I have issues recording and I am only able to record through the microphone on windows.

I have just purchased a new USB audio interface (Behringer U-CONTROL UCA222) to connect to a Pioneer DJM700 mixer via the RCA leads. The Laptop is recognising the USB interface, but in recording devices in Audacity it only allows me to record from microphone.

How do I record via the USB interface on Audacity please?

Thanks you in advance.

Check the Permissions/Privacy Settings for the USB device.

Hi, thanks for the advice. I would of thought that the UB interface would act as a ‘line in’ input to record directly from the mixer into Audacity. I’ll try and locate the Persmission privacy settings for USB device in Device Manager, if its labelled properly!

Sorted it, checked the microphone properties in sounds and audio enhancements were switched on, turned that off and used loopback USB device in Audacity. Couldnt believe it, was pure trial and error just playing with it!

“Enhancements” is one of the most common problems we see around here… :slightly_frowning_face:

They rarely kill the audio completely but they cause all kinds of weird problems.

Thanks for sharing the solution. I’ll remember that “enhancements” can do that!

No worries, thanks for your suggestions too, it made me check more settings in the sound control.

Its a right pain, but trial and error always seems to be the way of getting round these issues.

But with trial and error you can fix it one day or one month if you’re lucky!

Thanks again and keep up the good work!
