On screen Pause button

I am using Audacity 1.3.14 bite and OSX 10.6.8. The installer was a Fission USB turntable CD.

When I endeavour to pause recording between tracks, the on screen attribute control pause button does not respond; all other control buttons do.
I have followed all instructions in the hard copy manual but still can’t figure out how to rectify this issue, which hasn’t occurred before.
I’d appreciate your feedback.

The keyboard “P” key doesn’t work? P to pause the recording and P again to start.

Are we talking about pausing recording while you flip the record over? You don’t have to do that. You can keep right on recording and take the long gap out in simple audio editing.

Alternately, don’t pause at all. Stop the recording and then Append-Record (Shift-R) to start it up again at the end of the last recording.

Any of those work for you?

I don’t recognize Audacity 1.3.14. Is that a typo? 1.3.4 is a real version I think.

That version is really old. You can get 2.1.2 from here:

Dear Koz,

Thanks for that. The Append-Record (Shift-R) worked perfectly.
The Audacity 1.3.14-Beta (Unicode) is correct, however, I will download the 2.1.2 version as you suggest.

Many thanks.

Bruiser.

“Audacity 1.3.14 Beta” was the last of the 1.3.x beta series. It became obsolete in about spring 2014.
