Not well formed error, fixed but still need help

Ok, I recently made a recording in audacity and added some mp3s into my project, the next time i opened it i got the message:
“Error in line 10: not well formed”

So naturally I opened it in notepad and found line 10 which had an unknown character (it was a tag on the mp3). So i removed the invalid character in notepad, then removed the tag on the mp3 file. Now the part im having trouble with, when i tried to reopen the aup file i got the error something along the lines that it needed to be imported as raw because its uncompressed, which i have no idea how to do. I tried importing it raw but i dont know what all the settings mean. Every time I try it just sounds like half a second of random noise.

Can i fix this by importing it with the correct settings or did i fuck it up somehow?
If it would help I can upload the file later but its on another computer so Ill have to do it later.

Thanks!

Well done!

Audacity cannot import .aup files using File > Import (Import strictly means that the new audio goes into the same project
window, but you can only have one project open in one window). So use File > Open instead. If you were using File > Open, yes please attach the .aup file.

Audacity cannot import .aup files using File > Import (Import strictly means that the new audio goes into the same project

Yeah that is the issue, when I try File > Open I get another error which tells me the project file should be imported raw, Ill try to upload the file later today.
