Hi All,
Sorry for bothering you. I am a newbie to audacity and not the most IT savie.
I am trying to record my vinyl records but the sound quality I am getting is terrible (loads of white noise).
I am recording from STANTON T.120 records decks, through a vestax VMC-002 mixer.
Then I have red and white jack leads coming from record output on the mixer and into the input of a citronic AC-1USB USB connector.
The citronic connector is then inserted in the USB port of my laptop (Samsung using Windows 7)
Phono is selected on the decks, mixer and citronic box also.
On audacity (Version 2.5) I have MME selected as the Audio Host, Speakers (Realtek HD), Microphone (USB Codec), and stereo (Input Channels).
I am getting a lot of background noise wheb I press record. I don’t think it’s related to the decks or mixer because the noise is there when I press record without a record playing.
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
We don’t make any Audacity 2.5, so if that is not a typo your first step should be to download the latest 2.0.5 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows .
USB inputs can be noisy, but Audacity is not adding the noise. Try another USB port the other side of the machine. Make sure the USB port is empty (don’t plug into a USB hub that already has other devices connected to it).
If it’s a laptop, try running it on battery.
