That’s right. I tried to record PC sounds but audacity only records nothing, a blank track with no play back. I was told that line in was unplug so plugged my camera and all good for this but not showing up Stereo Mix.
I read somewhere that there is or are alternative to Stereo mix to record pc sounds but I don’t know yet what it is.
I had the same result with Adobe sound booth.
I have 2 ordinary old speakers on that system; they work ok. and so does my headphone…
I just read writting this post a similar problem with an answer that says that some pc will not allow you to do this. But there seem to be ways around it. So I’ll post this but will try to find out more

Hello, in my Audacity speaker sound it says Wasapi is the host, as I chose it before. But it’s not recording any sound?
NB#1: the Recording device is also set to speakers
NB#2: WASAPI only records if there is sound playing …
Windows WASAPI host only records loopback when there is an active signal present. When there is no active signal, recording pauses and will restart once an active signal resumes
