No Sound from Bluetooth Wireless Headphones When Recording From USB Turntable

Audacity 3.1.3
Windows 10
Turntable Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB
Headset Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling

I’ve been using Audacity with much success for several years to listen, record, edit my collection of vinyl records. I have been using an old low tech wired set of earphones originally bought for making VOIP calls. I decided it would much more fun with better headphones and wireless so I could roam about while recording. Got these for Christmas and VERY happy with the features and sound quality. But…

I get no sound in the headset when recording:

  • No sound when recording or monitoring
Works fine if replaying an existing Audacity Project
Works fine when playing music on iTunes.

Please someone tell me there is a way to make this work.
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Can someone from technical support please help me with this?

I don’t know… Normally anything with Windows drivers works… And If playback works, monitoring should work.

Make sure you’ve turned-on Software Playthrough but that’s no different than with wired headphones.

When I turn on Software Playthrough, I get an error from Audacity. The help advice for that error says not to use Software Playthrough.

What’s the error message? (I probably won’t be able to help but maybe it will be a clue for someone else.)

P.S.
There is something else you can try - Go through the Windows control panel, find the USB device, and then select Listen To This Device. If that works you should hear the turntable even without running Audacity or any other application.
