no sound coming through computer

I recently purchased an Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable to convert my LPs to digital. I just installed the Audacity 2.0.1 software on my Dell computer (running Windows 7 Home premium) today. I hooked the turntable to my computer through the USB cable they provided. I then followed the instructions in the manual from AT on how to change sound settings. When I tried it out, the visual monitors in Audacity show sound input and even output levels, but I get no sound through my computer. I even tried exporting what I was supposedly recording to an mp3 file, I got no sound out of that either. My computer speakers play all other sounds (internet video, cds, dvds) just fine, so I am a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have blue waves and can see the sound meters bouncing, you are getting a recording, whether or not you can hear it.

Sometimes, Windows can freak out when you plug in a USB Sound Device and will mistakenly assume sound should go both directions to the device instead of recording from the device and sending speaker sound out to the speakers.

You can tell Audacity where to send the speaker sound by using the Device Toolbar.
