I’m having trouble getting sound to Audacity. I have Audacity 2.1.1 and OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 on my iMac and am using a PreSonus AudioBox 22VSL. I have the AudioBox selected as the recording device on Audacity and in Sound in System Preferences, I have also checked in Audio Midi Setup to make sure nothing is muted. Audacity does pick up sound when Built in Mic is selected but i also use Studio One and that isn’t receiving signal either. I haven’t used Audacity or Studio One since the new OS update which makes me think it could be that?
Does the AudioBox work if you plug headphones into it rather than the computer? Does the AudioBox’s power light come on? What’s between your live performance and the AudioBox. Part numbers?
Yes sound works with headphones plugged in to the AudioBox…I have a Pioneer DJM800 running to the AudioBox with XLR leads, all lights are on and I have sound through the system. What part numbers are you referring to?
Known Problem: Starting with Mac OS X 10.11, AudioBox VSL control software no longer works, the control panel will not pass audio (i.e. no audio input, no meters, no audio playback from system) with AudioBox VSL Software installed. Please refer to this article here that explains the issue in more detail and how to resolve it.
In order to continue to use the AudioBox 22VSL, 44VSL or 1818VSL on Mac OS X 10.11 (or later) AudioBox VSL software must be completely removed from your computer system. There is no uninstaller and therefore the software must be manually removed. The manual process to do this is outlined here:
