No signal going to audacity when trying to record

I have audacity installed on my 2010 5,1 power mac running mac os mojave 10.14.6 and I also have a scarlett 18i20 3rd gen audio interface connected to the mac, I am not getting signal going into audacity when I press record. I have all the connections right. The microphone setting is turned on as well in the mac system preferences. Anyone had this experience, please let me know how you resolved the issue.

Since the last Powermac was produced in 1998, and the las possible system version for such a Powermac was 9.1 - I do not believe you. Please give correct details.

As probably always I suspect you did not grant access to Microphone for Audacity in the system settings.

again it is installed on my 2010 5,1 power mac running mac os Mojave 10.14.6 I did grant access to the microphone. When I press the record button no sound coming into audacity but I am getting signal thru my interface a scarlett 18i20 3rd gen audio interface with my dj setup connected from my dj mixer to the scarlett input 7&8 but audacity won’t pick the sound. I even tried with other sources such as another computer and playing something from the itunes and connecting it to input 5&6 and still no sound going into audacity.

question what is the oldest mac os version allowed for audacity?

Does this link help? - https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/

I repeat:

  1. A Powermac was last produced and sold early 1998.
  2. The most recent Powermacs can run Mac OS 9.1, but no version of Mac OS X / 10.something or newer.
  3. Your Mac obviously is not a Powermac but a different model if it can run 10.14.6. You can check in the Apple-Menu → About this Mac for more details
  4. You apparently did not read my last sentence:
I suspect you did not grant access to Microphone for Audacity in the system settings.

I’m sorry my bad it is a 2010 mac pro 5,1
