Hi! I’ve just installed the Audacity 4 Beta and since Windows is quite weird with languages, this is something that could be easily overlooked but the Audacity installer was fully in English and after I ran Audacity it showed up in Polish (my native language). I’m unsure whether this is intentional, so that people to test out the translations but I am sure it would be great UX-wise that the first box asking you to select the theme should also ask you to select your language.
I did not see an installer recently where I needed to select the language. Most applications adapt to the system’s language (or they remain in English if the system language is not implemented). And in Audacity 3 (I did not try 4), you can change the language in Audacity’s settings.
Try the following:
- Uninstall the software.
- Search for and remove leftovers.
- Remove Audacity’s footprints in the registry.
- Now you can perform a clean installation.
You see, that’s not the issue here, I know I can change this in the settings. The issue is that it wouldn’t harm anyone to add a simple “Select Langauge” box in the software’s setup, it would greatly improve the user experience of multilingual people
No need for brain surgery: language preference [Locale] is stored in “Audacity.cfg” …
